On July 27th, Yokohama AikiDojo proudly took part in the 21st Kanagawa Prefecture Aikido Federation Demonstration at the Kanagawa Budokan. Our dojo was represented by a group enbu featuring ten adult members, who showcased our commitment to inclusivity and the values of strong fundamentals, cooperation, and mutual respect. It was a pleasure to see several members perform for the first time, stepping onto the tatami with confidence and sincerity.
In addition to our group demonstration, I also had the honor of presenting a shidoin enbu. Having just returned from my European Summer Seminar Tour, I continued exploring the theme I had developed overseas: blending modern, dynamic movement with older, rarely practiced techniques preserved in the traditional transmission scrolls of aikido’s founder. Accompanied by Mihaly Dobroka, David Frykholm, and Allan Fontaine, I sought to highlight both the evolution and the deep historical roots of our art.
This video and a playlist featuring the rest of the demonstrations given that day is available on YouTube.
